While drafting our Student Spotlights, we decided that our teachers deserve a moment in the spotlight, as well. So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce Sam Tran, our first instructor in the Staff Spotlight!
Thinnox: Let’s start with the basics. How old are you and where are you from?
Sam: I’m 24 and from Toronto, but my background is Chinese.
Thinnox: What do you do at Thinnox?
Sam: I’m the Robotics Engineering instructor.
Thinnox: What’s your educational background?
Sam: I have a degree in Engineering Physics.
Thinnox: Wow. That’s pretty impressive. Why choose that degree?
Sam: It seemed interesting.
Thinnox: Do you have any advice, or words of wisdom for your students?
Sam: Do more Lego!
Thinnox: What’s your favourite thing about Thinnox?
Sam: The students. They’re very bright.
Thinnox: One last question: what’s a random fact about yourself?
Sam: Hmmm…When I was in the 6th grade, I won a foosball tournament.
*As a side note, Sam is still a foosball champ today. Last camp session, his LEGO students had an absolutely epic foosball tournament during their lunchtime. The tournament spanned a 3-day stretch, and was no doubt inspired by their instructor.
